The story behind the film

Alyssa & Patrick’s wedding at Croix View Farm in Osceola, WI was the perfect setting for their story. But their fairytale ending was earned through faith and courage, and I wanted to reflect that in their wedding video.

Alyssa & Patrick described themselves to me as simple, down-to-earth and old fashioned. They told me how much they enjoy the quiet, rolling hills of the country where they can spend time camping together and gazing up at the stars. But they also told me about their biggest challenge. For four years, they hardly got to see each other as Patrick was far away from home in the Marines. They told me how hard this was, but also that they stayed the course because they both knew where their connection would eventually lead them.

So I represented this through opening shots of Alyssa by herself, waiting for Patrick. She walks down a path alone, looking out at a field through a window… looking out at a dream seemingly light years away. But then, Patrick returns as promised. He finds Alyssa waiting for him without any doubt he would return, and the two pick up right in-stride where they left off. Patrick’s hand reaches out for hers as they walk up a hill at sunset, and the two finally look out over a field together, the one Alyssa could only dream about before. Through faith and courage, they reached their field of dreams.

The wedding video then ends with the two doing what they love– sharing a quiet moment together outside under the stars.
